FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Am I a candidate for permanent makeup on my eyes?

There are several factors that can effect retention therefore a consultation is necessary. Do not schedule a Microblading or Permanent Makeup Service if the following condition(s) apply to you:

  • Pregnant or Nursing

  • Sick (cold, flu, etc.)

  • Any Blood diseases including Anemia

  • Cancer (If in remission would require your physician's sign-off)

  • Viral infections and/or diseases

  • Epilepsy

  • A Pacemaker or major heart problems

  • Tendency towards keloid scarring

  • MRSA-Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus

  • Used Accutane in the past year

  • If you are knowingly under the influence of drugs or any mood altering drugs/medications. Please do not do any recreational drugs a minimum of 24 hours before your scheduled appointment.

  • Have any Thyroid (Hyper/Hypo) related condition that requires any medication (ie: Synthroid ). Thyroid medications WILL cause the pigment not to retain properly.

  • Seborrheic dermatitis

  • Rosacea

  • Super thin/vascular sun damaged skin

  • Diabetes type 1 & 2 (prone to slow healing & Infection). If controlled, a physician's note will allow me to work on the skin.

  • Have upcoming vacations or special occasions planned. Please book an appointment a minimum of two months in advance to give time for the healing process and touchup appointment.

  • Platelet Disorders-Aggregation Disorders

  • An aggregation disorder is when platelets do not bind with fibrinogen and other proteins in order to stick to other platelets. As a result the platelets cannot form a plug to stop the bleeding from a damaged blood vessel.

  • Autoimmune Disorder of any kind (MS, RA, Lupus or the like) Due to the medicines to treat these diseases, pigment will not retain.

  • If you are any of these medications, you will bleed and the pigment WILL NOT retain

  1. Triflusal (Disgren)

  2. Clopidogrel (Plavix)

  3. Prasugrel (Effient)

  4. Ticagrelor (Brilinta)

  5. Ticlopidine (Ticlid)

  6. Cilostazol (Pletal)

  7. Vorapaxar (Zontivity)

  8. Dipyridamole (Persantine)

  9. Coumadin

  10. Pradaxia (Dabigatran)

  11. Xarelto (Rivaroxaban)

  12. Eliquis (Apixaban)

  13. Savaysa (Edoxaban)

Is a touchup necessary after my first session?

The first touch up should be scheduled no sooner than 4 weeks and no later than 8 weeks following the first session. This touch-up appointment is crucial for the best results.  Additional touch-up appointments may be needed for oily, problematic skin, those with dark pigmented skin and clients who do not follow aftercare instructions properly.

What can I expect during the healing process for permanent eyeliner/lash enhancement?

Healed results will vary with each individual client. NO guarantees can be made, additional sessions may be required to obtain optimal results. This will result in additional charges. Although we give our best efforts to provide you with quality service, many factors can result in a less than desired outcome as each client will heal differently.

There are three stages of healing:

1-4 days- Initially, the new tattooed pigment will appear more intense than expected. Oxidation and blood rushing to the skin's surface darkens the appearance of the tattooed pigment.

2-7 days- The pigment color of your procedure will be significantly softer and lighter during the healing process. The "disappearing act" is due to the immaturity of the epidermal cells. These cells have been exposed to pigment and the sloughing process disrupted. Your tattooed area will have a milky cast, diffusing the original chosen color. The pigment doesn't go anywhere. It's just not as visible through the "veil" of tissue during the wound-rebuilding stage, resulting from tattoo actuation.

5-30 days- Translucency is slowly restored and you will see the pigment color deposited in the dermis. While these injected pigment tones may initially simulate the exact color chosen, it will not always be a perfect match. The tones of the injected pigment remain constant, while your own skin tones change depending upon exposure to cold, heat, sun, circulatory changes and medications.

How long does the procedure last?

Everyone's skin, metabolism, internal and external factors are different and as a result the length will vary. Some client's retain the pigment longer than others. Clients can get 1 to 3 years out of their procedure, I recommend an annual touchup for the best results!

How do I prepare for my permanent makeup appointment?

  • Please wear glasses to your appointment instead of contact lenses.

  • For permanent eyeliner, discontinue the use of eyelash serums (Latisse, Babe Lash, Maxilash, etc.) a month before the procedure. These serums enlarge the blood vessels in this area and make pigment retention more difficult.

  • Do not exercise 24 hours before procedure.

  • NO alcohol or caffeine 24 hours before procedure (Yes, there is caffeine in decaf coffee and tea!).

  • Avoid sun and tanning 30 days prior to procedure.

  • Do not take Aspirin, Niacin, Vitamin E or Advil/Ibuprofen 24 hours before procedure.

  • Avoid Fish Oil, Prenatal Vitamins, and "Hair, Skin, Nail" supplements 24 hours prior to procedure.

  • Discontinue Retin-A 4 weeks prior.

  • Refrain from use of any Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA) products close to the eyebrow area 2 weeks prior to and 2 weeks after your procedure.

  • Refrain from mood-altering drugs for at least 24 hours prior to any procedure.

  • If you are not allergic to Benadryl, you make take one the night before and the morning of the procedure, which may help control swelling.

  • Please Note: You will be more sensitive during your menstrual cycle.

  • No doctor prescribed medication should ever be discontinued without first consulting your physician.

Will I make a good candidate for lash extensions?

If you can answer "YES" to the following three bullet points, I would say you will make a wonderful candidate!

  • Your eyes are free of signs and symptoms of infection and fully recovered from recent eye surgeries or procedures.

  • You do NOT have allergies/sensitivities to acrylates or cyanoacrylate adhesives.

  • You are comfortable lying down for a few hours with your eyes closed.

Can I come to my appointment with eye makeup?

  • To maximize time with your lash stylist, come to your appointment with clean eyes, completely free of makeup.

  • Remove all make-up, including foundation, eyeliner, eye shadow, mascara, eye creams, and eye serums. Clean lashes will create an optimal bonding surface & improve retention.

  • Second Cleanse eye area and eyelashes gently but thoroughly to remove any residual oils or mascara.

Can I have lash extensions if I have contacts?

Yes! However for your comfort, do not wear contacts to your appointment. Wear glasses instead.
